UCOM Goals
Develop and maintain programs which represent the best interests of all condominium owners through educational forums and publications.
Encourage and enhance the condominium lifestyle as a more carefree, economical and independent home ownership.
Inform and educate members to administer their associations with knowledge, good judgment and even-handedness for the well being of all.
Represents members setting forth the interests of condominium associations through the legislative process. UCOM is the only organization that is designed solely to represent the interests of condominium and community associations in Michigan
Inform members of potential legislation relating to issues affecting home ownership, particularly condominium ownership.
Join and participate in national organizations with goals common to UCOM and condominium ownerships and lifestyle. |

Martin Starrman - President & Treasurer
Marty joined the Board in July of 2005. He also serves as President of Oakbrooke Pointe Condominium Association. A graduate of Walsh College and member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Marty has been with Federal Screw Works for over thirty years where he holds the position of Director of Financial Accounting. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Marty is married and the grandfather of two children.. |

Bernadette Aaron - Vice President
Bernadette has lived at Oakwood Park Condominium Association, in Rochester Hills, since 1999 where she served as a past president and board member for five years. She brings over 15 years of construction experience and project management along with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration/ Management to the table. Ms. Aaron has been a UCOM Board member since February 2007.

Clara Sumeghy - Secretary
Clara is currently Senior Technologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Toxicology and Chemistry, in charge of staff in that area as well as assisting with some advisory duties. She has twice been Chairman of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, Michigan Section, and has served on their Education Committee for the past 25 years.
Clara and her husband have lived in Providence Towers Condominium for 18 years, being one of its original tenants, and is currently serving her second term as Secretary on its Board of Directors. |

Kathleen Connor - Director
Kathleen Connor has been on the UCOM Board since November, 1991 and is currently the President of Highland Lakes Condominium Association in Northville, a self-managed association of 691 units. |

Neal Moore - Director
Neal Moore of Northville Hills has been a member of UCOM’s Board of Directors since March of 2003.
Neal has over 20 years of management and executive experience in the engineering, product planning, manufacturing, financial analysis and quality control areas of the automotive industry at both the OEM and supplier levels.
His experience includes owning and operating a design and manufacturing company.
Neal’s education includes Masters Degrees in Engineering and Business Administration.
Currently he is enjoying retirement and serving on condominium and parklands boards and playing golf. |

Betty Ruud - Director
Betty has a Master of Science in Public Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wayne State University. She is a member of Pointe Park Homeowner’s Association that represents a 41-unit complex in Grosse Pointe Park. She was previously treasurer and president for Campau Farms Condominium Association in Downtown Detroit representing a 172-unit complex. Betty lived 19 years in English Colony Condominiums in Warren in a 116-unit complex, and served in various capacities during that time on its Board of Directors. Betty is currently Program Director for The Guidance Center non-profit child advocacy program in Wayne County for abused children called Kids-TALK (Talking and Listening to Kids). Her duties include interaction with children and families, staff supervision, and assistance in securing continued funding for Kids-TALK. |

Mark Bartnik - Director
Mark Bartnik has a strong background in computers, IT, advertising and related fields. Among his clients are Comerica Bank, Ford Motor Company, Campbell Ewald, Pricewaterhouse and Zenacomp, a local Microsoft Certified Partner. Formerly in management, Mark has been a consultant for over 14 years.
Mark has served on the board of Park Place Condominiums Association for six years and filled the post of Association President for two terms. He currently sits on the Board of the Marygrove College Alumni Association.
Mark and his wife Sandra live in Hartford Square, a Residential Homeowner Association in Troy. Sandra serves on the Hartford Square Board. When they are not working, they enjoy friends, activities and classical music.

Mark Raymond - Director
Mark Raymond is a successful Southeastern Michigan investor and entrepreneur. He is a member of DOLLARS (Detroit Organization of Leading Landlords and Real Estate Strategists), the Macomb Property Owner's Association and the Oakland Real Estate Investor's Association. His networking activities also include membership in Motor City Connect, the Local Business Network, the Troy Chamber of Commerce and the Yes! Network. |
